I may get slammed for saying this, but to me this is a great country song! The song, music, and harmonies touch me everytime I hear it! Theresa

I like the song but in the video what's that old man Kenny doing with that girl who's young enough to be his daughter? I guess I just wish it was me!

Whatever your opinion it has more upfront steel than he has ever used before. Pete Drake(who played on his other stuff) was the master of the passive steel guitar fill. On this recording the steel is really allowed to play to a greater degree than before. Perhaps the most annoying thing about Kenny Rogers is the fact that he is instantly recognizable which sets him apart from 95% of the "artists" coming out of Nashville....Pete.
[This message was edited by Peter Dollard on 26 March 2000 at 12:21 PM.]

I heard the song on the way home today, and I agree with Theresa. It is a great Country song. And the steel is right in there all the way.

I like it.

God bless all,

I love the song. It reminds me of something James Taylor would do.

Malcolm-

I'll bet you a nickel that's Allison Krauss. But who's the guy who sings at the very end "For the rest of your life?" I think that's his only line in the song.

Kenny Rogers again breaks another country music record...

1st country music artsist to have a number one song on the country charts released on his own independent label.

I made it a point to listen to the song at Wal-Mart demo earphones. I liked it although I don't care for Kennys Chicken I would buy this song. Didn't yet because I found an old Hank Thompson package I had been looking for at a flea Market. Cost me 20 bucks but it is in collectors shape.Excellent production on kenny's song.

I agree with Theresa on this one! "Buy me a Rose" is a wonderful song...wonderful lyrics, especially. Loved it the first time I heard it. Go Kenny!

I like it too. I think we're going to be doing it in Rockin' Horse - our leader was singing it last time I stopped by his house.
