Roger Miller on "Fraulein"

Post by Jimmy Youngblood »

Roger played fiddle on Bobby Helms' classic hit "Fraulein".

True or False.

"Fraulein", "Special Angel", "Geisha Girl", and (last, but not least) "Jingle Bell Rock".

Yep! Bobby made out pretty good on only four songs, didn't he? Image

Sorry Donny, but Geisha Girl was by Hank Locklin. Bobby had another great song called "I'm standing at the end of my world" but it was on the flip side of Fraulein.

Actually Bobby Helms had about 7 no.1 songs but I can't remember them all. I worked with Bobby in '78-79 and probably had more fun then, than I have with any gig. Bobby told me it was Buddy Spicher on his records along with LLoyd Green. I don't know if they played on all of his songs but that's what he told me. I wish I had a dollar for every time I played Jingle Bell Rock in the summer.

Hey Ben,
I think Fraulein was out about 1957 or '58. I think that might be before Lloyd Green and Buddy Spicher started their session work but I could be wrong.
