Does anyone remember this song, and maybe where I can get a copy?
I'm pretty sure of the title and believe it
was originally done by Jack Scott.
CIRCA: mid to late 1950's

What little I can remember is a line like......."So I'll CRY, CRY, CRY over you"

Johnny Cash had a song named "Cry,Cry,Cry" which was released in 1955. It is not the one you are thinking of so maybe title you have is wrong.

Connie Smith also had a song with that
title in the 60's... here's a line from
it: ".. but I've found three ways to ease
the pain - cry, cry, cry..". Is that
the one?

Marty's is a cooler, similar version of Johnny Cash's original.

Thanks all.....more about this song that's been bugging me for years.
There is HUMMING in it. And most of the chord
progression does follow that popular formula at that time...you know..C Am F G; G Em C D.

All the songs you all have mentioned are not it. BUTT...The song I'm thinking about, although has the line it "cry,cry,cry over you".....well, may very well not be the title of the song I'm thinkin' of.

It was jack scott. he wrote "cry cry cry", an entirely different song than that done by johnny cash, jimmy newman, etc.

it was released as a 45 around 1962 (capitol 4689)-or you can try to run down a cd on which it was reissued: jack scott: the capitol collector's series; capitol cdp7931922, released in 1990 and also out of print.

I think the Cash number was actually titled, Big River.

Ron......you're right on about JC's "CRY,CRY,CRY.

I've been to a few CD onliners [Amazon and
CDNow and a few misc. ones from Yahoo]
and so far, CRYCRYCRY can be got on a 5 disc
Jack Scott anthology selling btw $113-$125.

"CLASSIC SCOTT" released in '94 also has CRYCRYCRY on it, but so far none of these sites seem to have this CD.

Here is a helpful place on locating songs.
I still don't know all the ins and outs of the site but if you put title or artist down, they literally come up with every concievable song that has that title or all the albums someone has recorded and even are on other people's records.

Graham....if I ever get my hands on this song, I'll somehow get it to you and Ricky
and maybe you guys can put it on your great
steel intro/break/tab site.
Not sure, obviously, if steel is in there at all.
What bugs me right now, outside of the month of February, is that it looks like if I want to get this song CRY CRY CRY, I am gonna
have to fork out over $100. Now Jack Scott,
I love. But a lot of songs on this massive
5CD set are just songs we all grew up with.
In other words, there is probably 50/50
filler here. Besides this.....I really only want this song...I have country classic's
CD's with everyone and anyone on there, including JS, but not the song CRY CRY CRY.

Graham......got your email last night, and at 1st had a bit of a problem downloading.
But I eventually was able to do it...and there it was CRY CRY CRY...at a considerable
financial savings.
At the time I received your email, I was in the middle of downloading some rum and cokes;
This download may have conflicted with the
CRY CRY CRY download.
But anyway, after a hot shower, me and Jack
Scott were one with the world.
Thanks again Graham (REBEL) for a monumental effort. And once again, both you and Rick are
really outdistancing yourselves on the LICKS/INTROS/TAB site....a tremendous effort.
Thank you so much for this great site; I know many here will agree.

Lotta them cryin' songs around! The last "Cry, Cry, Cry" I remember was done in '89 by Highway 101...that was a good one too!
