While John is away Vince continues his praise of opry staff
I saw a recap from someone who was at the 2nd show of the opry.
Aparently the highlight was supposed to be Andy Griffiths apperence as ron howard planned to be on stage with him. However Andy
was so flusterd he got phsicaly ill and went back to his hotel.
Meanwhile Vince Gill publicly accknowledged
the use of the opry house band and introduced them.

Funny, Ray
Seriously, I watched with trepidation. Earl--the GREAT Earl--has not been well for some time now and I thought he looked like he had been prepped by Mike W or John S. When Andy came out Earl almost fell down--he appeared to have a stiff leg, I don't know the nature of his ailment--and he looked mighty precarious. Then Andy told a joke and looked like he was about to pass out or hurl or something. I truly feared that something mighty bad was going to happen. I was relieved that the show ended without incident.
By the way, see Earnest's observations re: the commercials in the Opry Recap thread.
[This message was edited by Jon Light on 11-14-99]

I normally don't turn the sound all the way off - I only turned it down during Earl's segment - but when Kelly Willis' fiddle player went into a solo, I just had to hit the mute button. I can't imagine how acts like that get on the Opry stage. We kept expecting a big hook to come out from stage left, but then we realized it wound have to be a double hook!
