Telonics FP 100 Required Power

Post by Andy Schick »

Hello Folks,

Just curious...

As stated on the Telonics FP-100 page "Operates from ANY voltage from 9 to 24 volts, AC OR DC! It doesn’t care!

My question is would a Strymon Oja 9v 500mA work ok?

Thank you

The FP100 should have an input current requirement as well as voltage. Or maybe a wattage?

I just found the manual, freely available on the Telonics website. Looks like it uses a proprietary power supply.

From the Telonics site:

"With state-of-the-art power capabilities
Operates from ANY voltage from 9 to 24 volts, AC OR DC! It doesn’t care!
May also be powered using a tranformerless mains supply (PS-3, included with pedal: 100-120VAC 60Hz). A worldwide supply (90-264VAC 47-63Hz) is available for overseas customers.
Polarity INDEPENDENT! Plus (+) or Minus (-), it doesn’t matter!
Surge current management allows use with smaller power supplies."

I haven't been able fo find current specs but as you're not driving speakers it can't be much more than a few hundred milliamps so there's no harm in trying it with your Strymon PSU.

Once I was at a gig and realized I forgot the special adapter. It worked just fine with the 9V I use on the effect pedals and all the daisy chain plugs. Man was I relieved.
