Clean amplifier finish???
Can't believe I can't find any posts that recommend a spray product for cleaning the finish on your amplifier! We're talking about the vinyl amp finish...like on a Peavey, Evans...amp

I’m not sure how to post a picture but check out Music Nomads All purpose Amp and Case Cleaner. $9.99 on Sweetwater. I use it on all my tolex amps and it’s wonderful. Leaves a nice slick finish and it smells pleasant also.

I'm having trouble locating it online, but when I get out to the garage I'll take a picture of it, provided I can find that
.
Anyhow Jim Lindsey told me about this stuff years ago called Tire Shine. I got it from Costco in a 3 pack. It's in an aerosol can, you spray it on, sparingly and then wipe it off. Looks like brand-new and lasts a long time.

I have refurbed quite a few amps, some even stored in the barn! I use water, and a small scrub brush, takes the grime off well, I then use one of the Turtle Wax products to bring the shine back.

ArmorAll and a bristle brush to get it down into the grain or texture and loosen up the grime, wipe it down with abosorbent rag while it's still wet to sop up the dirty liquid residue.
GFI Expo S-10PE, Sho-Bud 6139, Fender 2x8 Stringmaster, Supro consoles, Dobro. And more.

Re: Clean amplifier finish???
For cleaning the vinyl/tolex covering on used amps I occasionally purchase that arrive kinda funky I will use Dawn Power Wash dish spray, and a Mr Clean Magic Eraser. Along with a soft bristle toothbrush for hard to get to areas. Followed up with warm water with dish soap added and a dish rag. Then play warm water in a bowl with several clean dish rags. Once clean and dry i use Armor All spray and a clean sock I have especially for this purpose. For the final touch I apply a very light coat of Armor All Extreme Tire Shine for a shiny finish. If the tolex is black and very faded I have used Kiwi Leather Dye in the bottle w sponge applicatorTom Campbell wrote: 28 Feb 2026 12:24 pm Can't believe I can't find any posts that recommend a spray product for cleaning the finish on your amplifier! Formula 409. We used it for years on touring gear of all kinds and I still use it a lot at home. Works really well to cut grease, dust, marks and dried muck, and it doesn't destroy surfaces or attack your skin and lungs.
