Shout Out For The Wampler Equater EQ

Post by Chris Harvey »

This may be a sleeper but this is a fantastic EQ. I usually don’t fuss with them because they’re overly complex. These are so easy. Q settings are great and literally tame anything you hate. I tried an amp with intentional harsh settings and could get a completely useable tone. Nice for pesky rooms or amp/volume pedal changes.

I first found the pesky ice pick frequency on the high mids and dialed it out. Slightly boosted a mid frequency to offset any muddyness and use the low and high to taste. Had to obviously raise the volume slightly to offset the cuts but it’s easy and is silent (no hiss). Plenty of headroom at 12volts. I run it last in the loop.

Wampler makes fantastic pedals, so I’m not surprised at all he would make a great EQ!
