Volume Pedal Issues
Did a bit of searching and couldn't find a thread with my exact problem.
I have a Goodrich L-120 Lowboy that seems to be on the fritz. It operates in one of three ways, intermittently: 1) Volume is always full on, regardless of pedal position, 2) Volume sweeps from off to about "half-on" at the toe down position, or 3) Volume pedal functions normally.
The weird thing is, I can get it to switch between these three modes by hitting it pretty hard (I stomp on the bottom of it very hard with my heel in heel down position). When pedal is functioning normally, it sounds beautiful and there is no scratchy sound in the pot.
Any guesses as to what could be going on?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Volume Pedal Issues
Frayed string, loose collar (pot) or bad pot. Open it up and take a peek. Fair chance the culprit will be obvious.

Yeah I've disassembled and reassembled. I guess it's a bad pot? Just seems weird that when it functions normally, it sounds perfect.

Re: Volume Pedal Issues
You might as well clean those jacks now.
That covers everything possible.

Re: Volume Pedal Issues
From your description of the problem, Could be several things to check.
1st. Check if pedal is hitting stops at On and Off.
2nd. Check if pot nut is tight, That holds pot to the pedal frame.
3rd. Check if string pulley set screw is tight.
4th. Does string have 1 wrap around the set screw so the string can't slip on pulley.
5th. There is something loose inside the pot, Dirt or a broken part.
Good luck on finding problem and cure.
