Goodrich L120 Pot Pedal Updated with a Dunlop Hot Potz pot
I bought this Goodrich L120 pot pedal new a few years ago at a steel guitar show. After plugging it (brand new)and seeing that the volume pot was defective, I just threw it in my junk drawer out of disgust. It came with a Clarostat 500K pot (see detailed pictures of that pot in the link below) that lost continuity somewhere in the middle of its travel.
The Dunlop pot uses a conductive plastic resistance track instead of carbon. My last Dunlop pot has lasted over 20 years so I decided to put the updated version of this pot in my Goodrich L120 pedal. I used the pot from Amplified parts and just took the gear off by removing the snap ring that retains it. Tom Bradshaw's pot will be used in another pedal down the road when it arrives. The shaft length and diameter work fine in the L120 pedal and soldering it in was a breeze

Hey Greg, which Hot Potz did you get and where did you get it from?

Just checked out my inventory of volume pedals and found out that the Stage One pedal has a Dunlop Hot Potz in it including the rack and pinion gear. Very simple, reliable design that sits even closer to the floor than the Goodrich L120.

I put Dunlop pots in both of my old Goodrich 120 volume pedals. I bought mine from Tom Bradshaw many years ago (2007) and they have been working flawlessly ever since installing them.
That was almost 20 years ago.

Re: Goodrich L120 Pot Pedal Updated with a Dunlop Hot Potz pot
Out of all the volume pedals I have owned (pot based and electronic) I'd say that the Goodrich L-120 (with the Dunlop Hot Potz upgrade) and the Moyo pedals are by far my favorites. Both have super smooth action and the Moyo has a huge grip pad on the bottom taking advantage of the fact that there are no screws sticking out on the bottom to hit the floor. So the Moyo is super stable and not likely to slide on a solid floor. The lower height of these pedals keeps the top of my leg well below the undercarriage and puts my right knee a bit lower on the knee levers making them easier to actuate.
Here's a nice upgrade to any Goodrich pedal that will give it a lot more floor gripping ability. These upgraded feet are compatible with the existing Goodrich screws and their size is a nice fit in that they do not stick out beyond the bottom plate. They are within 1/32" height of the original rubber feet.
