Quilter Phantom Block

Post by Don Mogle »

For those of you who have used the Quilter Phantom Block for going direct into the soundboard, what has been you experience? Are they worth the money (which is really not much considering the cost of other units with direct XLR outputs).

Thanks!

I have used one for a few smaller sized shows. It worked fine and did the job. I had 3 effects pedals (Steeltronics Steel Tuned Overdrive, Wampler Terraform, Boss RV3) running into it. I kept the gain at half and the master at 75%. With the gain any higher than that it starts to distort. It’s worth the money. I think I paid $60 or so for a like -new pre-owned phantom block.

I auditioned the phantom and the super block and opted for the super. I thought it was better. —- Rollin

Thanks Rollin.

I decided to try the Phantom Block due to small size and low cost. It will fit better on my pedal board which is already pretty full. Besides, I don't like a lot of dials to deal with...it's the less is more concept.

Haven't used the Phantom, but used the SuperBlock US in the recording studio today and it was the perfect interface for my Push-Pull. If there is no need to drive a speaker the preamp and line out are happy with the pedal board's 9vdc power, so it was easy to set up in the control room and do our business.
