Mullen guitar production

Post by James Blue »

Does anyone have any information on what is going on at Mullin? I ordered a new G2 in June 2024, told would ship by june 2025. I know they have had their problems with Mike's untimely death, but I call every month, and (when they do pick up the phone) get a new group of issues delaying production and shipping. Calling now gets only voicemail, which is full, so can't leave a message. Are they solvent, or should I be getting my deposit back (if I can somehow get through to them.) Any information would be very helpful, as the waits on new guitar orders are at least a year with other manufacturers, and I would like to go ahead with an alternate if I need to.
TIA

Moved to Pedal Steel - the Forum Store has nothing to do with Mullen's production scheduling and order fulfillment.

Mullen has obviously had some traumatic losses recently, and are trying to recover. Here are a couple of recent threads on this:

I'm not saying you shouldn't be concerned. BTW, it's Mullen.

I ordered my Mullen G2 SD12 back in 2017 after calling Mike and spending an hour on the phone and it reached my door in 4 months. Of course this was well before they lost Mike and had the current streak of misfortune. I hate to say this but if I was 15 months into a promised 12 month delivery date and they were no longer answering the phone I'd be looking at other options. And if the business really is struggling as it appears, the chance of getting your deposit back is very slim...don't forget, their website clearly states the deposit is non-refundable.

This might be a crazy plan, but here's what I would do. Forget about that $500 and consider it a hard lesson learned and start looking on the forsale forum and buy the newest and nicest you can afford with what you budgeted for the balance due on the Mullen. There are several people who regularly sell the most beautiful nearly-new pedal steels on our forum. Then if you get a call from Mullen in the next few months telling you your guitar is ready...you have a decision to make. Maybe you've grown attached to the one you bought on the forum and have been playing for months or you still really want that brand new Mullen. If you want the Mullen, sell the used one on the forum...you'll possibly be out a few hundred...or maybe not. If you lose less than $500 on the swap, you're still better off than if Mullen shut down and kept your deposit. If you've grown to love the used one, don't buy the Mullen. Sell your spot in line for $500 to recoup your initial deposit and let the buyer handle the rest of the purchase transaction directly with Mullen. Win-Win and you don't have to wait months to start playing a high quality PSG ;-)

My D-10 G2 (9 & 5) was ordered in November and I got it in February. Not in 2024 / 2025 though.
