LeeAnn Rimes - I Want to be a Cowboy's Sweetheart

Post by Alfred Navarro »

Anyone know who played pedal steel on LeeAnn Rimes' recording of I Want to be a Cowboy's Sweetheart? Credit is given to Johnny Mulhair but he is a six string player and the producer of that album. There is no video or mention anywhere of him being a steel guitar player. I would thing an amazing performance like the one on the recording would make him a steeler we all know about.

Fandom credits him for elec and acoustic guitars, mandolin and steel guitar on the All That album where the song was re-recorded in 1994 on Mulhair's Nor Va Jak label prior to her moving to Curb records where Blue was recorded..

Junior Knight did some work with LeAnn just after that so he might be able to confirm or deny whether Mulhair did the steel work. Several other members here that were familiar with the story from her Texas region might be able to comment also.

Milo Deering did some fine work on her traditional country album in 1999.

Pretty sure that was Milo Deering on the original studio record, but here is Junior Knight killin' it on a live version of the tune: https://youtu.be/fmUAaoAdnyE?t=112
