Steel players name?

Post by Tommy Auldridge »

Can someone tell me the name of the player who was playing with Waylon Jennings and used a Dobro simulator, on the song "See me shine" youtube video. I really would like to know the type of effect he was using.. The particular brand. Thanks, Tommy.....

Yep, that's Robby. He's using a Goodrich Match-Bro designed by our hero Buddy Emmons to get a pedabro sound. There were several versions of this. If you can find one of the later versions with true bypass that's the one I'd want. Of course they're not made anymore so you'll have to look around for a used one.

Some of the other pedals will get you by, but this one has the closest authentic sound IMO.

You’ll need the black nylon (?) bar which dampens the sustain to go with any effects. I got mine from Tom Bradshaw
Sierra S10 (three!), Peavey 112 and 115, Benoit dobro, Beard Model E dobro, Beard Roadophonic, MSA Superslide, Dean Nickless custom dobro

I have a white nylon bar, With a 1/4" brass bar insert in it. I found it in a booby box from a Do-Bro players estate. Someone seen me playing with it, He said it came with a Boss GE-7 SB reworked for do-bro sound. It seems to give a good do-bro sound, With my Boss GE-7.
