Sweet deal on a 1960's Supro

Post by Michael Kiese »

Aloha Everyone,

Just wanted to share a great score I just had.

I was looking for a case for my A25 Frypan, and then this steel came across my computer screen.

It's a 1960s era supro with a valco pup.

The great thing was that it came with a Morrell lap steel case. I have one for another of my steels. I bought it for $180 on Amazon. It's a plush, high quality case.

I bargained the seller down to $330, and he accepted. I still had to pay shipping and taxes, but it was still a deal.

Here's a great tip: add Rick Aiello's NiBro mags, and a brass nut, and these guys start sounding like a frypan.

Enjoy!

Nice score! I saw that one when it popped up recently. I thought the wooden box with the bars was cool. I've been a Valco kick lately. Fantastic steels, and usually a bargain too.

Mahalo guys!

Honestly, if I'm going to be honest, I bought this listing for the case. haha.

It was like getting 2 things that both came at a good price.

I got a nice gig case for my A25 now!

I'll eventually get an A22. I wonder if it would fit in the case alongside the A25 if I "69" 'em...

Would be handy for local gigs.

I'm gonna supe up that supro with a brass nut and Rick Aiello NiBros.

Mahalo! I think so as well. Lol.

I really didn't need it, but it was such a good deal, I couldn't pass it up. The case is a very nice case.

I had one just like it accept for the case. It was stolen out of the back of a pickup truck during loadout here locally in VT. It was a great sounding lapsteel. Never did locate it.

I still have the identical Supro, my first steel guitar. Got it when I was 9 or 10 taking lessons in the Bay Area beginning 1963-64.

The only bummer is the nameplate is missing.
