Hi Dan, When is the Silver Spur open so I can buy a ticket? I have called a couple of times, got a machine and no response. Thanks for any information you can provide.

Hi Larry,
Not sure the Silver Spur has advance ticket sales. I have just paid for admission at the door.
The venue is primarily a large stage and dance floor with tables around the perimeter of the floor. So, no assigned seating, or anything.
Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoon / evenings would be the best times to call.

Hey Larry,
I just spoke with the folks at the Silver Spur, and they will get back to you. They are only open a few hours a week (Saturday night's dance, and one or two times a week for Line-dance classes), so they sometimes take a little while to reply. But they will get back to you.
Looking forward to a great show!

This event is getting close. If you have not see Sarah Jory, check her out on Youtube. She is an amazing player, not to be missed. Her concert will be worth the drive and the price of admission.

Hello Larry and Dan,
I had major shoulder surgery done on Tuesday of this week. That precludes my attendance at this event. I was soooo looking forward to it, for sure.
Please take a few pics and we will be at The Silver Spur with you, in Spirit!

Dan, what a bummer! Hope the surgery goes well, and we'll save a seat for you for next year.

Dan, Sorry to hear about your health issue, hope you heal quickly. I'll take some pictures and try to post them Tuesday when I get back home from Maine.

Re: Sarah Jory, Jacob King, Ronnie Miller and Tommy Thompson in Maine!
I had a wonderful time this past Sunday attending the steel guitar show at the Silver Spur in Mechanic Falls, Maine. Bill Holbrook opened the show with a nice set of classic tunes. Next up was Fred "Tommy" Thompson. At 94 years young, Tommy played a great set and sang some tunes with his terrific bass voice. At one time, Tommy was on the road with Dick Curless. Playing in the #3 slot was a young man, just 22, who blew my sock off. Jacob King is currently playing with Terry Bradshaw and is an amazing young player. I can't say enough about what a great musician this young man is. Whew... In the #4 slot was Ronnie Miller who spent many years on the road with Charlie Pride. Ronnie played a great set with some backing tracks he brought with him. Finally, it was time for the headliner, Sarah Jory. Wow! Her talent amazes me and it was a wonderful experience to see her perform live. I got a chance to chat with her a few minutes before the show was underway and while I watched the show. She gave me a big hug! What a warm and wonderful artist. She played a terrific set with smoking hot fast tunes and some ballads, ""You Raise Me Up," and "Danny Boy" that had me shedding tears. The back up band was very good, all highly accomplished players, My big thanks to all who planned and performed at this event. It was a great show!

I was in attendance too and agree with Larry it was a great show. the players were tremendous with a good mix of fast picking and beautiful ballads.
Before the show I got to spend a few minutes with Fred Thompson who was nice enough to give me steel lessons 20 years ago. I'll always be grateful for his patience and kindness while giving me a great head start on what can be a difficult instrument for beginners.
Also Larry, thanks for the pictures mine were from the balcony and not near as nice.

Thanks for the pics, Larry. What a blast!
I really missed hearing Sarah and Jacob King. Tommy Thompson sure is a shining example of the idea that we can all keep playing and keep making progress. Ronnie Miller is a treat to see anytime.
Next Year!
Thanks for your review Paul.
