Looking for a tech in Montreal, or perhaps Ontario
Hello. I'm a complete beginner. Live in Montreal.
I've just bought a Fulawka SD10 E9 (I think) 4 / 5 setup, and need to get some maintenance work done on it. The copedent seems a bit messed up, and there is a problem with the LKV -it drops the low B (10th string) a quarter tone, then raises it a quarter tone, while raising the high B (5th string) to C.
I also don't quite get the position of the LK levers, LKL is under the 4th fret, and I'm finding it difficult to depress either of the first two pedals without moving the knee lever. The levers are at their widest point and touch both sides of my leg. I can fix this by sitting at an angle to the guitar, but that seems to make picking and the tone bar more difficult to use because my arms aren't perpendicular to the strings. Maybe I just need to get used to it.
I spoke with Alex who has taken over Ed Fulawka's shop (www. fulawkalegacyguitar.com) and will likely see him, but I'm wondering if there are players in Montreal who can recommend someone more local. Also would be happy anyone to meet a few people here in town. Feel free to PM or email me.
Thanks, Tom

try and contact joe grass. he's a local player that might have some insight on where to find a tech, or he may be able to help you himself.
good luck!

Hello Tom. I totally understand your situation. I just started playing psg myself and i feel like a not normal person in Montreal! I would be happy to meet and talk about steel guitars! I dont know any mecanics unfortunally for your steel guitar. But good luck with this.
Keep in touch.

Thanks Johann. We seem to be a rather small group, not-even-a-crowd. I've decided to take the guitar to Aleks for a once over. 7 hour drive one way, but hopefully one and done unless I decide to modify the guitar.Johann Schlager wrote: 3 Jul 2025 9:16 pm Hello Tom.
