Sho~Bud feel questions

Hi all,

I’m the proud owner of a ‘73 Sho~Bud Pro II. I love this guitar, but a recently borrowed Fulawka steel from a friend raised a few queries.
This thing felt enourmously different to my ‘Bud- much higher tension feeling overall on both the strings and pedals, at first I found it strange but the more I played it I started to like the feeling and accuracy it seemed to have.

My question is- is this feeling somewhat achievable on my Pro II? I know the Buds are shorter scale so maybe my strings are too low gauge, my pedals (while super smooth) feel a little spongy now too.
Maybe I’m just comparing apples and oranges and should learn to love what I’ve got- thought I’d ask for some advice here!
