ToneX sample

Post by Ron Hogan »

A new Tonex Pedal preset from Joe Rogers. It's a Standel model. I didn't adjust anything. Only added reverb.

That sounds really good Ron! Is this the update Joe sent a week or so ago? I’m curious whether you are running direct or have the Tonex running through an amp or powered speaker.

Thx Doug. Yes that is the one Joe sent out a week ago.

Not direct. Cabinet has a Blue Marvel 12". Using a Bam200 power amp.

I'm old school amp geezer and don't quite get the outcome of sound with an amp modeler. If you use a model sample plugged into an amp (preamp/power amp) as into a combo amp you still have to tweak the amp for the sound you're pursuing? If you go from the modeler to a power amp, I can see some advantage. However, you still are producing the sound through a speaker and each speaker has its own sound producing quality. If plugging the modeler into the PA board (direct) you still have the sound quality of the mixer and the PA speaker and at the mercy of the sound man. So, there's still a lot of tweaking to do after you find the modeler sound preferred? What's the advantage of the modeler over a good steel amp matched with the best sounding speaker for your preferred sound?

I really like the Sho-Bud Blackface pre-sets that Joe produced.
Great sound…. One of the best of Joe’s collection.
