New Lever Help on Carter S10

Post by Paul Hutzler »

I've got 3 on the floor and 5 knees and thats including the left knee vertical. Wheres the next place a guy might mount a knee lever on his E9? I just need 1 more change and then i can die satisfied.

What change are you planning to use that lever for, Paul? Could it go on a pedal?

My 6th lever (Carter SD 12) is another RKL, closer to the back of the steel. I hardly ever use it, to be honest.

A second left knee left is common.

I actually did put a 4th pedal on. I'm trying it out but would be curious what it'd be like to have the change thats on that 4th pedal back on a lever instead. The pedal is in the 0 position and is the common change that raises the two E strings to F.

Yowsa, that E>F raise should ideally be on LKL with the E>Eb on LKR or RKL. the most common use for a P4/P0 is B>A lowers on strings 5+10 with or without G#>F# lower on string 6, the latter of which is also commonly found on RKL or LKR depending on where the E lower is located.

What is the history of the guitar? Can you post an image of the copedant? It would help if we knew what you have before addressing how to get what you want.

Here you go, Dave.
Pedals 1 and 2 are standard Emmons setup.
Pedal 3 ... lowers 6 and 3 G# to F#
Pedal 2 and 3 ... split tuning string 6 G# to G
Pedal 0 ... raises 8 and 4 from E to F

LKL ... String 2 and 9 D# to D
LKR ... String 8 and 4... E to Eb
LKV ... String 10 and 5 ... B to Bb
RKL... String 9 ... D# to E and String 7 ..F# to E
RKR ... String 4 ... E to F#
LKV and A ... split Tuning B to C
My pedal steel is setup so strangely because i like to finger pick it- play low notes with my thumb and pick melodies on top.
