Joe Wright’s Excel Spreadsheet

Post by Nancy Beck »

Hello all. I am just now going to my first Pedal Steel. I have seen some of Joe Wright’s videos on YouTube and they are great, especially on technique. He has referred to his Excel Spreadsheet sheet that shows all of the tunings and charts showing where the notes are, When I go to this site, http://www.pedalsteel.com/joe/Members/tea/teach.html. He states “ This is a page that shows the 54 scales that I study. They are all 5, 6, 7 & 8 tone variations of the chromatic scale. You can purchase an Excel spreadsheet that calculates these scales for any string“. When I click on his link I see no way to purchase it, as I think his shopping cart is not working, I found a way to contact him via a website, but it looks like an old link as well but I sent a message. Does anyone know how or where I can purchase and down load this Spreadsheet. It looks wonderfully helpful. Thank you PS I will try to “friend” him on this site as well.

I would like to purchase this spreadsheet also! If you are successful, please let us know how we can purchase Joe's spreadsheet since he closed his online store and generously offered his instructional material for free!

Thank you!

I have the spreadsheet. Joe made all his teaching materials available for free somewhere on his site. But in reality, I don't find it particularly useful. It would be more useful creating these charts yourself. Or get a tool like Steel Sidekick which allows you to enter most of the main scales and look at them in intervals.

Hi Bill,

Thanks for the reply. I sent you an email. I don't have any apple devices, otherwise I would have Sidekick! Thanks for the advice.

If possible check out my email. Again, appreciate the info!

Before anyone else hits me up: I don't have the spreadsheet itself, I have the output of his spreadsheet.
