I've just joined the forum, having learnt the Pedal Steel (after learning guitar at same school) in high school in Canberra, and being unable to buy one, bought Stacy Phillips' Dobro book and a lap steel and tried that on for size! (Besides trying to build one myself while still at school, using their tools.) And one of the books I found and bought was Don Sharp's Pedal Steel Guitar Method - besides Winnie Winston's brilliant book, and later Rusty Young's and DeWitt Scott's E9 Anthology.
Lately I've been working on transcribing it from Don Sharp's elementary guitar chord method (it's identical to how I learnt the guitar, with chord names and very little else. Unlike the other books), to traditional music notation and 10 string tab. I've informed Mel Bay, and they haven't replied, so I figure they're not going to raise the roof over a book that didn't sell particularly well - I bought mine in a combo second-hand and surplus store, so I figure it had been traded on to them. It has some interesting tunes and features, but a lot that won't be of any use to anyone else, I suspect.
Any suggestions?!? (apart from "Stick it in (censored! Censored! CENSORED!)!"
