The website has been updated for 2025 and says they're taking orders. Losing Mike was an awful hit, but if they can somehow compensate for his organizational and PR skills, I'm certain they'll be OK.

My oldest Mullen turns 50 (maybe 54!) this year and still works just fine.

With the sudden passing of Mike Maney Jr., Since he had taken over management of Mullen Steel guitar. Will leave a void to fill. The family needs some time to recover from Mike's sudden passing. Del may have to come out of retirement and take the helm again.
I need to order some Mullen PRP parts, A guitar I bought is in need of a changer pull and some TLC.

Mullen

I emailed and got a response from them within 48 hours about a receipt, no problems. I'm sure Mike left a void, especially with a backlog of orders and moving to a bigger location. Time is on their side, God bless Mike.

I haven't seen an announcement about who's at the head of the Mullen company since Mike's untimely passing.

Of course Del is still with us but he had shifted the deal to Mike. Don't know how many other family members or capable employees they have now.

Shaun still involved with the company?

Just curious. I'm sure it's in good hands. I wish them all the best and continued high profile in the steel guitar community. They're top notch guitars and people in my book.

From their FB page, it looks like Del has come out of retirement to assist and Shaun is back taking Mike's place. From what I can glean Jeanette is no longer with Mullen.

I sent an email with some parts that I want to order and got a response from
Lynette the next day. I tried to order the parts from their website, but the cheapest shipping quote from the website was around $220 for a few pulls and some small parts.

You'll need to talk to them, direct. I imagine you'll have to go around the web-site.

Mullen is fine! I've been in touch with both Shawn (Mike's brother and new GM) and Linette (Office manager). I would just email them and ask for a callback. They will get back to you.

I do understand losing important people that make Mullen steals. I’ve been waiting over nine months and talking to Wynette. I was supposed to be getting a phone call at the end of this month which is now September but for the last week and a half they are not answering their phone That’s that’s not a good thing. Does anybody else know what’s going on as of September 26, 2025. I have a $500 deposit which is not returnable or refundable. I even tried to have Shaun give me credit to buy other parts are pedals. Shaun refused to allow me credit but yet I’ve been waiting almost a year. If anybody has any more information about what’s going on in Mullins please text it here if you wouldn’t mind thank you.

Do you mean Lynette? My understanding is that she has left the company and is no longer there. Interestingly, a new forum member was just able to buy a “slightly used” G2 that a customer bought, couldn’t play and sold back to Mullen and the forum member just happened to snap it up. He is selling it on the forum. I’m also selling a G2 D10.

Thank you for your response. I just talked to Wynette about two weeks ago cause I was calling at least once a month to see where I was on getting a discovery. She was still there. She took the time but now there’s no one answering the phone whatsoever, but I do believe it’s Wynette Voice that’s on the answering machine. I’m curious to what’s going on and the third going to be shutting down, I need to be refunded on my $500 deposit that I made almost a year ago for a discovery. Let’s light up the Internet about what’s going on. We all need to know. I hope they’re still in business. I hope they still got people that can play and make that still. They have been a great company until Mr. Dale passed away any news that all would be better than that thank you. My name is Jerry Guy. I live in North Florida. Thank you.

I've ordered a new G2 July 2023 -26 month ago and still waiting. It's nice to have a new one but my old Bud still does a good job.

Hey guys, check out this post: viewtopic.php?p=3250032&hilit=mullen#p3250032

Some of the same concerns on this thread are discussed over there and have some updated information.

Basically, I read where Mullen was taking 2 weeks off because of Shawn's medical procedure. Based on my math they should be open again next week.

I as well have a guitar on order - a SD12 - placed the order Sept '24 - they last date I was given for arrival was March '26.

I'm going to be patience and keep practicing on my RP SD12 and be ready for my G2 when it's ready! Unless I buy an old Emmons in the meantime! I'm thinking of converting a 10 string to E9/B6 if i can...but that's a topic for another thread.

Stay patient folks - I don't think Mullen is going anywhere - they're a family business and with all that's happened to them over the past year I believe Shawn is motivated to keep it moving. I know I would if my brother passed, I'd want to carry on his legacy.

Because they are avoiding phone calls, I would be wary of ordering, and I would be quite worried if I had sent a deposit.

In an email response I received, when I sent them one wanting to discuss if they were accepting orders on single neck E9’s, and if they could discuss their guitars on the phone, the email back to me (from Dana) simply read: “The best way to order is online”. Period. That’s pretty curt (and somewhat dodgy) for an expensive custom guitar query.

An earlier email read “please be patient as we navigate new business systems”. They build guitars. They are not a tech firm.

I wish them the best…….and I also see major warning signs of a business that might be taking on water faster than it can bail.

In a small business that sells to the public, it's a hard balance to do. Most people calling are hobbyist that want to talk about their hobby, playing progress, favorite players, etc.... and the guys on the other end are busy trying to do their work building guitars, and don't have the time to have these conversations over and over. On the other hand, someone spending thousands of dollars on a guitar, and such a long waiting list, expects (and deserves) some attention. I think the solution is to have stocking dealers. I don't like to deal with a dealer that is just an order taker, unless it's just a few days to ship the item. Personally, I don't have the patience to order a guitar with a year or more waiting list. I prefer to find one that suits me, make the deal and be playing it in a few days.

There are a number of Mullen guitars for sale in the For Sale section. I currently own 2 G2 D10’s. I bought them both used but have always been able to get parts. I have literally owned every single Mullen model. All of them were wonderful guitars. I would highly recommend buying a used one. And just kiss your deposits goodbye.

I will say that my two used G2’s are the finest pedal steels I’ve ever owned.

I posted earlier in this thread. I ordered a G2 a year ago. I talked with Shawn's sister 9/15/25. As stated earlier, she said Shawn would be out a few weeks with a medical issue. I guess a few weeks could turn into longer?

I asked her how many employees Mullen currently has. She said three, she works remotely from 7 hours away, there is Shawn and a polisher. Sounds like Shawn is the only one who can build a guitar. I asked her to give me an update about delivery when he returns, and she agreed. I haven't heard back from them.

I've waited a year so I'll hang around a while longer. I don't fault Mullen for having problems. I do fault them for not communicating with their customers.
