Not really steel guitar related, and likely of little or no interest to the myopic Country Music diehards among us, but this relatively obscure young composer/guitarist with an amazing approach to her instrument totally knocks me out. A generational talent.

Look up Kaki King. She’s been doing this kind of thing for 20 years. Not saying she was the first, just the first one I ever saw do it, and is now about as big a star as you can be in the world of solo acoustic guitar. Obviously, Ms Williams also has the gift for this approach to the instrument.
There are now quite a number of guitarists playing in the “guitar as ensemble” style, and they all owe a nod of appreciation to Michael Hedges, Leo Kottke, Lenny Breau, Chet, and most of all, Tommy Emmanuel.
