That is Joe Dye, a very talented player from NJ. It's my understanding that he doesn't play anymore, at least not out. Looking at the video, I'd guess it's in the neighborhood of 35 years old.

I remember Joe Dye... He was a "wunderkind" type of player back in NJ in the early 80's... We were all young back then, all the NJ, NY pedal steel guys gigging at many of the same places , but Joe was quite a bit younger at that time, "sub legal" age if I remember correctly, but man he was REALLY good, and in pretty high demand, both from bands, and the young ladies. I sat down at his steel one night and starting doodling and he commented- "wow, Buck Owens pickin"-alluding to my west coast playing style I suppose. He was just a very hot player, and was only at it a few years at that time, if I recall correctly.. We have all seen that type... Young kid playing a year, blows away all the guys that have been at it for 30 years,,, disgusting!

Jack said in his post that Joe has stopped playing.. I don't get it. How can you play like that and just quit??.... bob
I'm over the hill and hittin'rocks on the way down!

no gear list for me.. you don't have the time......

Sure wish he would join in. Its obvious he liked Buddies aggressive style. Would be a shame if he hung it up.
