Marty was a fan of "Little" Roy Wiggins.

Roy told of being invited to Marty's home. While on a visit, Marty played some of Roys intros from some Eddy Arnold recordings and Roy said Marty was right on with copying him.

But the vocal lick at the end….holy crap. Even Jerry smiled at that one.

Great song!!!and great playing!!Very Melodic.
Some of the older Dobro players used to be kind of be sloppy just hitting chords up and down the neck.
Not jerry!

This is probably the most unusual Robbins vocal you will ever hear.
Quote from Jerry Byrd's sleevenotes, 'In the beautiful Drowsy Waters (Wailana), Marty demonstrates the the Hawaiian style of falsetto (high tenor). This kind of singing reaches back to the early days of Hawaiian history when certain taboos forbidding women to sing the old chants, left it up to some of the men to sing in a high voice.a high voice. Marty Robbins is one of the few haoles (white men)who have mastered this skill.
Marty could sing circles around anyone in the biz>

That's why Jerry Byrd was his Hawaiian steel player on all of Marty's Hawaiian Albums(yes quite a few). Marty LOVED the Steel Guitar.

I'll tell you what ... singers and players like these are the reason God created music. Unfortunately they are in mighty short supply these days.

Thank all of you who posted above. Thank you very much.
