Rose has a weekly happy hour gig at Sam's Town Point, a charming little joint in a honky-tonk kind of way, with this type of band; acoustic piano/Hammond organ, vibes, bass and drums. My rough estimate of her repertoire appears to me to be 20% +/- in the latin/samba/bossa groove, with the rest being standards from the Great American Songbook and post-bop jazz. She has a great song list and is constantly adding to it. She has my admiration, indeed. :)

Rose was also the creator of, and continues to be the booker for, "Steel Guitar Monday," also at Sam's. This is an early gig every Monday in which area steel players bring their own musicians and do a set of whatever material crosses their minds from 7pm until 830. It's been going for five years now. Rather remarkable, wouldn't you agree?
My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg?

I think that’s awesome, Herb. And Rose, kudos to you for your work and sweat and fine playing. And good job keeping all the musicians working!

Great job Rose, I really enjoyed it. Cool song and a cool band . It's always fun hearing your take on these tunes, because it's the same songs I enjoy playing. Keep them coming. Steve Catt

Thanks everybody! Yes, if you're ever in Austin on a Monday, come on down to Steel Monday at Sam's Town Point, a little roadhouse in South Austin, 7-8:30pm. Different steel player every week, with some heavy-hitting regulars including Steve Palousek, Jim Loessberg, James Shelton, Gary Newcomb, and Herb Steiner when we can roust him out of his fishing boat! :D

I was tired of waiting all year for the steel conventions so I started booking a tiny steel show every week featuring one player. I've since moved my own band to Sundays (mission creep?)

Stay inspired and keep on pickin'! :D :D :D
