Thank you for posting these (both here and on YouTube). I find myself getting deeper and deeper into the Sacred Steel tradition through your great work.
Del Ray... I myself followed a different call with my pedal steel work. I used it to turn a buck.. As a Christian musician I sometimes regret those days.
However I have the utmost respect and admiration for those that use it as an expression of their faith in Christ, and as a tool for the ministry to the saints, and as a vehicle to further the Good News of the Gospel.
I play and sing on 6 string in a couple of churches, and have tried to heed God's call as I am able.. Perhaps one day more opportunity will be given to use my steel in praise music..
Sacred Steel is a style that I can appreciate, because its "rootsy" and comes from the heart..
Your efforts to make it better known and better understood by your fellow steel guitarists is well appreciated. I have learned more about it over the years, and learned to appreciate its unique voice.. Keep up the "good fight" in spreading the word about this heart felt and unique musical style... bob
Psalm 92:3 (ESV)
Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound.
Psalm 33:2 (ESV)
Praise the LORD with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings.
Psalm 144:9 (ESV)
I will sing a new song unto thee, O God: upon a psaltery and an instrument of ten strings will I sing praises unto thee.
I'm over the hill and hittin'rocks on the way down!
