The Urban Dictionary has many definitions on the word "Hack". The verb that turns up frequently these days is defined as, "To learn and understand a complex problem through a combination of experience, insight, and persistence."
Lloyd Green was the first pedal steel player to bring tears to my eyes with his solo on "Theme From A Summer Place" on Charlie McCoy's "Play It Again, Charlie" album. His elusive tone, vibrato, and bar slant technique are the most difficult to master. This particular rendition of Amazing Grace is from his "Ten Shades of Green" album. Knowing any attempt of mine would fall way short, I specifically chose not to play it note for note, but rather play it with his tone and the few licks of his that I can reach.
I think I could have really gotten it closer if my Sho-Bud was a green one....
Ben, the different guitars really do have different voices...!! In a day or so, I will be posting another hack on a totally different guitar...
Frank, I am actually better versed in Lloyd's version of Secret Love than I am at Amazing Grace. It moves me like it moves you! I may upload that one also...
