Buck Grantham - 1996 Smoky Mtn Jamboree "Live Video"

Post by Bill Ferguson »

From the 1996 Smoky Mountain Jamboree Knoxville, TN USA

Here is my pal of some 40 years, Mr Buck Grantham.
Buck plays with so much emotion and is such a unique player.

Buck went onstage ready to pick. He never carried charts. He said "Let's just getum boys".

Buck is playing his Laquer Body Emmons push-pull through a Peavey Profex and a Nashville 400. What a sound!

Joining Buck onstage is:
Dean Baxter & Jerry Moore - Fiddles
Ken Bottoms - Guitar
Mack McCarthy - Drums
Ray Rose - Bass
Roy Rosetta - Piano
Stoney Stoneceipher - Promoter
Recording by Bill Ferguson & Crew

Buck is now 93 (2022) years old and is going through some tough times with his health.
Please enjoy this video and say a prayer for Buck and Mitzi.

We all love them both.

Buck always had a great tone and brought new music to the crowd on every show. He would also fill in on lead guitar with a fine old Telecaster. Buck was a treat to see perform.

I was just thinking about Buck the other day...you are right he played with so much feeling...I was always impressed that he always wore a coat and tie every time I saw him. I am sorry to hear that he is struggling with health issues.

Mr. Buck always sounds so good, especially on that Push Pull Emmons. He has helped me and so many others through the years. He and Mrs. Mitzi are dear friends to Brenda and I and we pray for him a speedy recovery.
