The story behind this Gene Watson song is incredible. Lloyd Green played steel guitar on this record and it sounded great. This song has been played many times at steel shows. Nothing different with my version, just hard shell country music and steel guitar. I have enjoyed Gene Watson music for many years and still do today. Lloyd Green and Gene Watson, what a great combination.

Paul, no doubt a great country song and Gene is an absolute treasure to hear. I seen him in concert twice.
Thanks for a fine version.

Really nice rendition.

Lloyd told me that Farewell Party was to be a "throw away" or b side tune. They recorded it in the last ten minutes of a three hour session and decided to grab one more song for the vault. Who knew?

Happy Holidays to all

He said they needed one more song to fill the album. They never knew when it was recorded how big it would become. The rest is history and Gene Watsons most requested song. I can tell you when it comes on the radio the volume goes up.

Thank you Carl. I bet they did sell a lot of records. Lloyd Green was a big asset for any artist he worked with. Lloyd told me he never looked at sessions as work.
