RIP Candido - Latin Percussion icon

Post by Andy Volk »

RIP master percussionist Candido Camero. He took the congas into mainstream jazz.
He invented the floor cowbell and was the first (or one of the first) to tune the Congas to play melodies.

Thanks for the heads up, Andy. To be honest, I'd sort of assumed he'd passed years ago. He contributed to a lot of great music that I've enjoyed for years, and he played on more than a few of my favorite jazz albums. I refreshed my memory with this wiki link:

RIP Candido.
