Larry White
Sadly Larry White passed away this morning at his home in Dallas. He was still playing his beat up old blue 1975 MSA to the end. He would bring it in the shop about once a month to have me replace something he had worn out, and he wore it out!
Larry was on the A team of Dallas session players through the 70's and 80's, playing everything from jingles to a Doc Severinson LP. He was a huge influence on me in the 70's when I was learning how to play and an inspiration to the end.
Larry respectfully asked that there be no service or memorial.
All of us at MSA will miss his presence at the shop and his quest for innovation. He was always looking for new sounds and he used them well.
Have a great journey to the next life Larry, we will miss you.

I didn't know Larry, but I was blown away by his playing.
I remember standing with Stu Schulman at the Lewisville Speedway in 1976, watching him tear it up...on that blue MSA, thru a Leslie. Think he was playing with Ray Wylie Hubbard.
Vaya con Dios, Larry. Wish I had known you. Maybe next time...

Sad to hear of this.
I met Larry in 1970 or '71, sometime in there, at the Palomino Club. I was probably hanging out and Larry was playing with a band called Blue Steel Blacksmith, IIRC. He blew me away, of course.
Two years later and I'd moved to Texas. In all those decades here, our paths never crossed, except in the occasional e-mail. I regret not hanging with him more.

Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg?

Stu and Skip, I was at that Lewisville Speedway festival also. Cant remember who i played with. Stu must have been with B.W? Emmylou and the Hot band tore it up on that show. Larry's guitar had built in Leslie controls in it with that big 8 pin cable that plugged in the bottom of the guitar. His right knee verticle was the speed control switch. After heard that I ran out and bought a Leslie 147. It didn't make me sound like Larry!
