I am so sorry to hear this. Dean and I have been friends since the early 80's and always joked about the time at the ISGC when the room was so cold and neither of us had a jacket. I went to Scotty's booth and bought him an ISGC jacket.
He said that he still had the jacket somewhere.
Dean always played on my set at the TSGA.
He will be surely missed.

I first met Dean at the Dallas Show. It was my first visit to a steel guitar show, and he was one of the very first persons that I met there. I saw and talked with him many times in St. Louis, and Dallas whenever I went to the shows. He was one of the best fiddle players, and I would place him in the same category as Johnny Gimble, and Vassar Clements. All hero's of mine, even though I never played the fiddle. So sorry to hear of his passing. Rest in peace.

Dean Baxter
Sorry to hear this. Henry called just now and told me about Dean's passing away. He was one of the best as a musician and a man. Prayers for the family.
