1997 SMJ Harold Fogle Last Performance (?) YouTube Video

Post by Jim Fogle »

Forum member Bill Ferguson has a YouTube channel, "steelpicker".

A few months ago Bill posted a video of my brother, Harold Fogle, playing at the 1997 SMJ. I can't say for certain but there is a fair chance that was Harold's last public performance.

So a big shout out to Bill for posting the video and his steelpicker YouTube channel.

Jim, I attended this show and talked to Harold. He was in great spirits and had a real sense of humor. Thanks to Bill for keeping the memories alive.

Image Yes, we can thank Bill for his untiring efforts to promote the Steel Guitar in every way possible. Thanx Bill.
Here is a pic a two of a few fond memories of Harold at
the DeBary FL Steel shows in the 90’s. Hope you like……

All of the videos Bill posted from the ISGC have been taken down. After 10 years of posting videos all of a sudden they have been removed. I have known Bill for some time and he is a man of high esteem. Money is the name of the game these days and has been for years. Sadly the people behind it obviously do not care for steel guitar like Bill does.

Sadly, all of Bill’s hard work has been deactivated. See “Steel on the web” section.

Harold and I did a package show tour together in 1979 and we became buddies on that tour. I was with RCA recording artist Dottsy (After Sweet Memories, etc) and I forget what artist Harold was backing. But there was a lot of laughter as I recall.

He'd occasionally send me brochures from some limited output steel builder because he knew I collected stuff like that. and we'd somewhat sporadically talk on the phone.

Jim, is it true that he had suffered paralysis due to an extra heavy sneeze? I was shocked when I heard that had befallen him. :(
My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg?

Sonny Curtis (RIP) took myself and Jim Clark, (RIP owner Clark Custom Guitars) to see Harold one night at a club while in Columbus, Ohio, what a MONSTER C6th player!

I own a 1969 push pull that once belonged to Harold Fogle. Great guitar, it has a small plate with an inscription saying the guitar was custom rebuilt for Fogle. When I bought that guitar I looked up all Bill’s steel picker videos of Fogle. So sad that the videos aren’t available on YouTube anymore. The “fair use” doctrine needs to be taken more serious by media giants like YouTube.
