Gene passed Sunday morning. He wasn't a steel picker but loved it. He was a Great 6 string player back in the day, and loved E.T. and Leon Rhodes. He was a friend to me and my family for over 30 yrs. I will miss him -- he's up there picken with Bobby Caldwell another mutual friend of both of us. God Bless You Mean Gene

Pat, we lost a good friend and picker. I've known Gene since the early 60's. Always enjoyed the yearly visits to ISGC in St. Louis. Will miss him.

Yes -we will miss him. What a shame an 84 yr. old man, almost completely deaf, weighing 120 pounds soaking wet, got his hip broken and roughed up so bad by a St. James Policeman that he died 3 days later of a heart attack. All because he pulled out out a gas station without his lights on. Should have never happened. P.H.

Wow, I hadn't heard about this incident. I've know Gene for 55 years. He was a good friend. He worked hard on my campaign for commissioner, putting up signs ect. Not a good way for him to end up. RIP my friend.
