I liked her singing too. Just as how much Weldon Myrick was responsible for the Connie Smith sound, Pete Drake was responsible for Billy Jo Spears sound.

She was married, at one point, to recently passed on steeler Terry Bethel.

I met her at Terry's booth in St Louis one year.

I had the privilege of playing twin steels with BJ when Mike Edlin was her steel man and husband. This was in 1974 & 1975. She had a lot of chords in some of her songs and Mike and I worked up twin violins with the Boss Tones. She was wonderful to work for.

something else ! she used to say Bobby stand up ; oh you are.... she didn't even need a mic RIP as to Pete he got several of us sessions not to mention groceries...
