Rodney Garrison

Post by Bobby Hearn »

My friend and bandmate Rodney Garrison passed on from this great plain last night. I had the pleasure of playing with Rod in the first good band that I played in when first starting out on steel and also the pleasure of playing with him years later in another band when I had learned enough to enjoy it. Rodney was always encouraging and a good friend, he was a hell of a bass player and played steel as well and loved the instrument, attending the Dallas show every year. Y’all say a prayer for ole Rodney and Nora.

I too had the pleasure of working with Rodney after joining the Lone Star Troubadours. Rodney was a true gentlemen, and a fine bass player. It saddens me of the news of his passing, but he knew the Lord as his personal Savior and we know where he is residing now. Prayers and sympathies to his family.

I met Rodney a couple times. He was a great guy and played bass guitar very well. I know all the band members will miss him greatly.

Oh no, I am very saddened by this news. :(

Rodney and I were in BW Stevenson's band in 1973, toured with BW and played on Buck's "My Maria" album. He was a great road roommate. We later on bonded on steel guitar as well.

Rodney's son, Will Garrison and his wife and son, live 5 houses up the block from me here in Briarcliff. Guess I'll have to go spend a while with them tomorrow.

RIP Rod. Miss you a lot. :(
My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg?

Godspeed Rodney

Sorry for your loss Bobby. I know what it means to lose a band partner.
