Wow, I hate to hear this. I was pleased to be able to back up Freddie on three different occasions. He was a true Southern gentleman, and a Christian man.

I toured with Freddie for 7 years. He also is responsible for me meeting my wife of 34 years.

A great gentleman.

I met, and worked for him once about 14 years ago on a Marty Martel Opry Legends show at Silver Springs Park in Florida. Very humble person. Sad to hear of his passing.

In the mid 60's when I was at the New Frontier in Waikiki Freddie was doing the Hawaii Military circuit and would drop into the Frontier most evenings after his shows. As others have said "a Southern Gentleman. I never did ask him to join us on stage as I didn't want to impose on him after doing his evening shows. But, now I realize to him it would not have mattered.

Some great recordings by Freddie, "Key's in The Mailbox", Lyin' Again, "Do My Heart A Favor". These were on Columbia and had fiddles and steel guitar. Great shuffle tunes. He gave us some great music. He will be missed RIP

A story told to me by Julian Thorpe.
He was playing in a club with Freddie Hart and the owner had cabins he furnished the band to stay in. They got paid on Saturday night and all the band sat at a table after they got paid and were having a drink. All but Freddie, and he left for his cabin. Julian said Freddie returned in just a few minutes and told the owner, "You should probably call an ambulance. Three men jumped me and wanted to take my money. They are hurt pretty bad."
