Marty Balin, Jefferson Airplane

Post by Joachim Kettner »

He awas a great singer and person, unafraid of the Hells Angels in Altamont. Not only did I like him with the Airplane, I liked also Starship and Bodacious DF and his solo record. RIP Marty.

To me, Marty was the soul of the Airplane. His voice soared over everything. RIP, Marty.

I've been a Jefferson Airplane fan since I first heard Somebody To Love on the radio in 1967. Marty Balin's voice and musical contribution was a big part of their sound, may he RIP.

Marty and Grace's voices soared over that great rhythm section like a pair of jazz horn players. Another of my heroes is gone.

Godspeed Marty.

The sound of the Airplane was definitely key to the 60's movement.
