He sat in with us one year at the "Viva Elvis" festival in Virginia Beach... Seemed like a nice guy and a good player. The Elvis impersonator we worked with was Sterling Riggs from Chesapeake, Va...JH

D J Fontana

Post by George Kimery »

In the early 80's when I was attending a class at Jeff Newmans, Jeff put together a band for a jam one night. D J was playing drums. I had him autograph a drumstick to give as a gift to our drummer. I presented it to him at our next VFW gig. He was thrilled and went to every table to show off Elvis' drummers autograph. Only one problem. The ink in the Sharpie pen was not permanet. When he got it back, it was just a blank drumstick. I always wanted to relay this story to D J. I think he would have gotten a kick out of it.

He was very nice to me. RIP D J.
