Upgrade Mega Pak or Ultra Pak?

Post by Mike Wilson »

I want to upgrade from the 2006 version. Which upgrade should I get, the Mega or Ultra Pak?

Depends on your budget, of course. I bought the ultra. They had a 0% installment payment offer. I usually avoid buying on the never never, but it seemed to be an ok offer. I use BAIB a ton.

I’m sort of wondering what the advantages would be with the ultra. I like to use it for practice. I also want it to be able to make rhythm tracks for students and put them on cd. I only use BIAB for practice and teaching.

Do you have to ask them about the installment thing? I didn't see anything about one on the site.

I recall the multi-payment option popping up during the payment stage.

I didn’t investigate Mega and Ultra thoroughly. I just found the price point of Mega to be rich for me. The reason I can’t play well is not because I don’t have enought song styles to choose from. I don’t teach, so my usage of BIAB is to set a chord pattern on repeat and noodle, trying to get what I’m studying under my fingers.

I just upgraded from 2011 to 2018. I got the Ultra Pak on a hard drive. PG was running a special at the time, shipping and all was about $185.00. I can't imagine needing any more than the Ultra Pak. Just my .02 cents, YMMV

The UltraPAK is the big one, and it is well worth the money if you plan to do much with BIAB. The expensive one is the audiophile version. I'm told that these are like studio quality recordings. However, I'm also told that if you are using the program on your computer these files get converted to wave files when used anyway. So for most of us there is no advantage of the audiophile over the UltraPAK.

Yes, Harry - you're right. It's the Audiophile that seemed not worth the extra cost to me. Ultra is more than I will ever use.
