Jerry Lightsey, Austin TX bass legend

Post by Herb Steiner »

Long-time Austin musical legend Jerry Lightsey passed away on Oct. 27 after a long bout with Parkinson's Disease. He was 82. He leaves his beautiful wife Louise.

Jerry was, as his business card said so well, a "crazy bass player and all-around nut." He was in western swing bands in Austin TX starting in 1951 and continued playing until this time. He was a musical colleague, a good fishing partner, and a Masonic brother. We participated in all three activities together.

RIP, Jerry.
My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg?
