Microsoft- "visit our website"

Post by Scott Duckworth »

This was found in a story about Windows updates causing computer users not to be able to connect to the Internet...

"Microsoft has also offered guidance to those experiencing difficulties.

"Some customers using Windows 10 have reported difficulties connecting to the internet," said a spokeswoman for Microsoft.

"As a first step, we recommend customers restart their PCs.

"If this does not resolve the problem, visit our website for further support."

Anyone see anything wrong with that advice???

Trouble-shooting Microsoft style - "if you can't make it work at your end, we can't help you".

I have stuff.
I try to make music with it.
Sometimes it works.
Sometimes it doesn't.
But I keep on trying.

Well, a "restart" has always been one of the things to try, when things aren't working, and sometimes, it DOES do the trick.

There's nothing wrong with that approach, but doing it won't fix things that are more serious, obviously.

you need to remember the 3 Rs of MS troubleshooting:

Reload
Reboot
Repent
Mostly junque with a few knick-knacks that I really can't do without!

Well, in the first post, you see mentioned said computer cannot connect to the Internet. And Mickysoft says to reboot, but if that doesn't work, to "VISIT THE WEBSITE"....

Kinda like the story of the blond calling tech support. She can't connect to the Internet.

Tech asks her what she sees on the screen.

Blond replies nothing.

Tech asks her to make sure it is turned on.

Blond says she turned it on, but nothing happened.

Tech asks her to check and make sure it is plugged in.

Blond says she needs to get a flashlight.

Tech asks why.

Blond says the power is out....
