I'm really sorry to hear this. Buddy joined the forum in 2000, and has been a model member ever since. He was always helpful to the other members online. I never met him in person, but our emails were always cordial.

My condolences to his friends and family.

Passing of Mr. Buddy Castleberry

Post by Roger Dillingham »

I was shocked to learn this news of Buddy's passing! I am so sorry to hear of this loss to his family and to the steel guitar forum. I never had a chance to meet him, but like many of you I had sent my Lexicon MPX-1 down to him to program it for me....he called and we chatted. A true gem of a guy and a "Good Samaritan" to so many on the forum. It is my loss that we never got to meet. My sincere condolences to his family and all that loved Mr. Buddy. May God comfort you during this time of grief; you will be in my prayers. Roger :(

Sorry to hear about Buddy's passing. I bought my Emmons from him, and he treated me right. We never met in person, but we had some nice conversations over the phone. Thanks for selling me my p/p, Buddy… I play it every day.
My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

I just heard this... I just bought a 2nd Lexicon MPX 1, from Dave Diehl, and was telling him I thought I’d messed up my favorite setting that Buddy had put in my 1st MPX, and that I may have to send it back to Buddy and then have him put those same settings in my new Lex... It was then that he made me aware of Buddy’s passing... I had talked to Buddy on the phone a few times, and he sounded like such a sweet guy, very willing to help me out without even knowing who I was... So sorry for him and all those who loved him... He obviously had and impact on many.

Very sad news...

I also would like to extend my condolences to his friends and family. I also knew Buddy as a long distance friend (whom I never met and now wish I had).
Best regards,
Lynn Stafford

I wish I'd gotten to meet Buddy in person as I only knew him via The Forum and he did seem to be an anmiable, helpful and knowledgeable gentlemen. He gets extra point in my book too for playing a Zumsteel!

Pete, thanks for the photos of Buddy. Stevet
