This is very bad news. I once met an American at a steel convention in England and he told me that he had see him perform just lateley, and I couldn't stop asking him about how it was. I had him on my mind very often and I will continue.

RIP Leon! I abdo-lutely loved Hank Wilsons Back! It was one of the albums, along with Sweetheart, that got me out of Zappa bands and into pedal steel Country.

I've lost a dear friend of nearly 50 years. He and I traveled the country and the world together. He was a huge influence on my music. It's like losing a brother really. It's gonna take me a while to process this. I'm sick.

I saw Leon Russell last year 2015 open for Willie Nelson and Family at Springfield, MO. I was impressed with his performance. He had a Pedal Steel Guitar player that switched off on lead guitar a few times. What impressed me most was the fact he got a Standing Ovation when he walked out on stage to perform and when he left the stage another Standing Ovation. Only time that I ever saw this in over 50 years in the business of Music. He was Great! RIP Mr. Leon!

Will 'O the Wisp, Hank Wilson, Bluebird, Song for You, Wrecking Crew, his album with Elton John, all great stuff.

Never got to see him, but listen to him all the time. As someone said a really true musician, may he rest in peace!
Regards, Craig

I guess Leon's not "up on a tightrope" anymore as he's fallen... I'm so sorry to hear this, he was a very huge talent in music and covered so many different styles... He had one of the most unique voices ever. When you heard one of his records you always knew who it was as no one ever even remotely sounded like him... He was a one of a kind for sure.. I saw a repeat of one of the Marty Stuart shows on RFD TV awhile back which had Leon as a guest artist and really enjoyed seeing him in action again......RIP Leon......JH in Va.

Having returned from vacation in Hawaii a couple nights ago and hearing of his passing I immediately put on my favorite Leon Russell song, "Back to the Island."

Rest in peace Leon, the likes of you shall never pass this way again.

A true American original.

Just saw him play a few months ago, I'm shock. He played like he hasn't miss a step. It was a highlight of my musical events, along with the Band, Allman Bros., and the Grateful Dead at Watkins Glen in the 70's.

There seems to be some filming of "Hank Wilson's Back" in this movie.
Around 1:25 it shows the recording of "Roll In My Sweet Baby's Arms":

Pete Drake, David Briggs are also mentioned as actors.
