Long time Oregon resident and master C6 player Jimmy Kelley passed away March 1st at the age of 90. Per his partner Mary, he passed peacefully in his sleep.
Jimmy was legendary for his 1/4 note chord melody style as well as his wonderfully whacky sense of humor. If I have my facts right, as a younger player, he performed regularly in Alaska and Florida before settling in Eugene Oregon.
It wasn't until circa 1980 that he switched from his long time trusty multi-chord to a MSA and few others thereafter.
He was a beloved musician and a great friend to many pickers. He will be missed.
RIP Jimmy Kelley
