Ron Upton

Post by Robert Allen »

Steel guitarist Ron Upton has passed away. I met Ron after I moved to Livingston, TN several year ago. Ron was an excellent musician and a fine gentleman.

"a guy you would have liked to know..."

Post by Rick Kornacker »

Just a moment to say a few things. Ron, the "woodcutter" as I knew him, was a guy that many other steel players never knew...but should have had the pleasure to know. Not famous, not a full-time "pro" but one of those rare personalities that are always in an "up" mood. Great enthusiasm and interest in playing steel..and everything about it. I had the great pleasure of being a teacher to him. He's "up there" now alongside some of the best "pickers" that have passed on. That's the way I would like to think of it. Wish you all could have known him. Respectfully submitted, RK
