Odd Font Issues

Post by J W Alexander »

So I have an issue that won't go away---and its driving me N-U-T-S! :) Screen shot of the problem:

Picture file

If that's not clear the L is background shaded and this happens in every other Folder too----Win 7 Pro 64 bit IIRC. I created this without knowing how and over the past few years have tried accessing settings for fonts as they're displayed in folders. It doesn't happen when writing letters or posting to this forum.

Any ideas how to correct this--before I go all the way crazy? :)

TIA

Right-click Start =>left-click Computer => Right-click Properties => Right-click Advanced System Settings. Look at the Visual Effects tab. If "Adjust for Best Performace" is selected, it will uncheck everything and eliminate any "effects".

If that's no help, you could also try running the Clear Type utility. Left-click on the desktop => right-click Personalize => right-click Display => right-click => left-click Adjust Clear Type Text and follow the instructions.

Those would be about all I can think of aside from possibly monitor issues.

Well that seems to have cured the problem---mucho gracias!

After effecting the changes I rebooted just to make sure it took effect and it did.

The only thing is when following the right click/left click directions right click on the start button took me to properties but left or right clicking there took me to Taskbar & Start Menu Properties.

I did a search for "Advanced System Properties" which found the file I needed.

At any rate thanks again so much---time to fine another annoying minor problem! :)

Yes, sorry, should have been left-click on Start. Too early in the day and not enough coffee yet. ;)

Hope it stays fixed.

Early morning or not I still greatly appreciate the help.

If that doesn't keep it fixed I can always try this same thing over again. Next reboot should tell me everything.
