Another of our "elder statesmen" is gone. RIP.
The steel guitar is a hard mistress. She will obsess you, bemuse and bewitch you. She will dash your hopes on what seems to be whim, only to tease you into renewing the relationship once more so she can do it to you all over again...and yet, if you somehow manage to touch her in that certain magic way, she will yield up a sound which has so much soul, raw emotion and heartfelt depth to it that she will pierce you to the very core of your being.

RIP Charles Clark.

Unfortunately my promised official interview with him never came off other than some long 'phone conversations. Ivan sure got it right - he was an interesting guy and a great player.

Funeral info
Yes. RIP Pee Wee. You were the very reason I got into steel watching you on the Reg Lindsay Show. Details for funeral here.

What a great album. The player contrast is amazing and some of Buddy's wild be-bopish (is that a word) solos are truly awesome. Pee Wee's smooth playing was just so cool.

I met PeeWee a few times during the late 60's & early 70's when I performed on the Reg Lindsay TV Show. He was always a true gentleman & always helpful regarding my questions about the pedal steel. At the time he had a double neck Emmons push pull. As I recall MSA were the only all pull instruments that I was aware of at that time.
