Not what I'd hoped to hear today.

I remember his posts on this forum from a few years ago about Slim Idaho, his old crony in the 1940s.

Has anyone even nominated him for the Steel Guitar Hall Of Fame? If not, why not?

He made a pile of great recordings with Hank Williams, Cowboy Copas, Peewee King, Hank Garland, and Eddie Hill---among others.

For those that don't know, Don collaborated with Ruth White on a chronicle of his music career titled "Nashville Steeler: My Life in Country Music". I bet there are still a few copies out there.

Another great influence of mine. I met him a few times at Buck Lake Ranch. I was always impressed with how smooth he played. I saw him with Red foley and he was outstanding. Rest in peace Don..
